Eat Street 2007 – A Big Night out for Charity

We are very excited to report that our Childhood Hero Appeal kicked off with a huge bang at Eat Street 2007 held on the 22 May in the Sofitel Melbourne’s Grand Ballroom. Due to its enormous success, the Australian Childhood Foundation has been selected by the Sofitel Melbourne as the beneficiary of Eat Street 2008.

More than 30 of Victoria’s leading restaurants and beverage companies gathered together to showcase their delicious food and wine for guests to enjoy. Fifteen of Australia’s top designers and celebrities designed their own one-of-a-kind cape – in support of our Childhood Hero Appeal and the Super Heroes theme of the evening – which were displayed for guests to purchase. All time, products and services were generously donated to Eat Street.

There were some great auction items including a pair of autographed Hugh Jackman boots, worn on the set of Baz Luhrmann’s next hit – Australia, three of Melbourne’s top chefs, and a stunning Sass and Bide cape.

We extend our sincerest appreciation to the amazing Sofitel Melbourne team, our sponsors: ADT Securities, Action Event Services, Audio Visual Dynamics, P&O, InStyle Magazine, Style Counsel and Qantas. In particular, our deepest thanks go to First Samuel, a long-standing supporter of Eat Street, which purchased an enormous number of tickets and treated its clients and employees.

Our thanks go to the many, many companies and individuals who generously donated their time, and items for our silent auction, door prizes and raffles.

Special thanks go to the more than 100 volunteers from the Sofitel Melbourne and the Foundation who gave up their time to work tirelessly throughout the evening, ensuring that everyone had a memorable experience.

It’s easy to be a Childhood Hero. By getting behind our 2007 Childhood Hero Appeal and Eat Street 2008, you will help support our efforts to give all children a happy and secure childhood - a childhood free from the devastation of abuse, family violence and neglect.
