Melbourne Storm heroes

Students at Orchard Grove Primary School in Blackburn, Victoria, gave Melbourne Storm former captain Robbie Kearns and player Pete Robinson a hero’s welcome as part of Childhood Hero Dress Up Day held on Childhood Hero Day on 13 June 2008.

More than 5000 primary schools around Australia were invited to encourage their students to bring along $2.00 to school dressed as their childhood hero, with the school that raised the most money winning a Fujifilm S1000fd camera.

Congratulations to Essex Heights Primary School in Mount Waverley, Victoria, for raising $857.00. A fantastic effort by students and teachers.

More than $5,500 was raised from Childhood Hero Dress Up Day which will go to our specialist counselling services for abused children.

Childhood Hero Schools Program

The Australian Childhood Foundation’s Schools Program is a critical component of our Become a Childhood Hero Program. We believe every child needs a hero to make them feel special, loved and cared for.

Our program gives us all an opportunity to celebrate the fun, innocence and importance of childhood, and to raise funds for children who need heroes the most: children traumatised by abuse, family violence and neglect.
